I obviously should have checked this site before buying my boat with a 1998 Johnson Ficht 175. Boat had 50 hours on the motor when it blew the power head 3 weekends ago. I now have two questions:<br /><br />1) Has anyone had any luck getting current Johnson engine owner (I think it is Bombadier) to accept continued responsibility for the poor performance of this engine and help pay the cost of rebuild even when it is out of warranty?<br /><br />2) My marine repair shop is offering a new never out of the box 2001 Johnson carburated 200HP motor as a potential replacement engine for $8900 out the door rather than rebuild? Looking for advice on choices given. Must admit I'm not too excited about rebuild given my very recent experiece with the Ficht motor.
