I am just trying to get a baseline here of what i am working with. I ordered the diode from Volvo about 30 minutes ago just in case if its not bad ill just keep it on the shelf if its not that hard to get to ill go ahead and replace it all dodge is correct on the specs on the boat.. that is what i was curious have read its in the harness close to the alternator and i have seen some online that are on the side of the motor on the alternator side. so i should be able to find the alternator and just go backwards down the cable

what are odds that these diodes are on the side of the motor and not in the loom?

looking..... found fuse locations: http://162.144.28.33/lib/volvo/manuals/by_elect.html#/18

only diodes I found in the GS circuits are in the alternator and those are internal to the alternator.

cranking circuit http://162.144.28.33/lib/volvo/manuals/by_elect.html#/46
charging circuit http://162.144.28.33/lib/volvo/manuals/by_elect.html#/66

alternator (internal) http://162.144.28.33/lib/volvo/manuals/by_elect.html#/70

trim circuit http://162.144.28.33/lib/volvo/manuals/by_elect.html#/80
Ignition circuit (GS models) http://162.144.28.33/lib/volvo/manuals/by_elect.html#/112
engine wiring (really crappy scan) http://162.144.28.33/lib/volvo/manuals/by_elect.html#/152

didnt see the diode there. it will most likely be heat shrunk in the harness.

I got everything put back together but ran out of time .got all new relays fuses and I found out another weird little thing with this boat. the ignition has no middle position I dont know if this has anything to do with it . no audible start alarm. the key literally slides over to the start position no accessory position what so ever.... so another thing to get replaced... granted i cannot be to mad the boat was free.

Ok so finally got to the diodes and I have had a friend of mine check them and he said they look new as is the wireing harness. I am not even getting power that far he said he checked the diode with some equipment he has( he is also a certified electrician)said it was fine . So what's next ignition switch???

Not putting your friend down, but if your not getting power to the diode, then look at the wiring diagram in previous post. It shows power in the RUN mode comes from the alternator.
Is power available at the ALT?

Is the ALT wired correctly?

its fine man no harm im just trying to provide the most input I can and get you guys the most information as I can the alt according to the diagram is wired correctly this boat has ran before with this new engine and current setup . this engine has 36 hours on it . then it sat for 2 years then we get it going for a few months then all the sudden this happens no fire . now the ignition switch did test bad with the volt meter the previous owner did some " custom wireing"... for the radio...and burned the back of it up have no idea if this would burn a diode up

Just trying to understand what your seeing from what is written. The run voltage to power the pump comes from the Green wire on the ALT. Need to see if power is on the green wire.

Take a pic of the wires on the ALT and the starter, I'm looking for colors and positions

here are some of the photos from the boat... I also found out while taking these photos that the 12.5 circuit breaker that I replaced for the fuel pump ignition protector is suppose to be a 20 amp in the work shop manual it says that particular circuit breaker is suppose to protect injector relay which mine does not have ...for a fuel injected engine which mine is not... can I run this or do I need to order a 20 amp?

The ignition switch looks OK
Unable to determine if the ALT is correct, but probably is
Need to find out if power is going to and thru the diode to power the fuel pump relay

Need a voltmeter, turn power ON and trace the power, but with your comment

I am not even getting power that far he said

Would need to teach electrical fundamentals and don't think there is enough time
