So the title says it almost all. I have a 1998 mariner 75hp 2 stroke that has been sitting for about 2 years. I bought a new battery changed all fuel lines pumped out all old fuel and gave it fresh stuff. Bought 3 brand new spark plugs and cleaned the carbs out. So that's where I'm at mind you the motor has started for a few seconds (no more than 10 seconds max) before doing most of that stuff and after but almost no change. I've checked all the spark plugs a bunch of times and can say for sure I have spark. The fuel is visibly coming out of the crabs when the motor is being cranked over (so not that). The compression has been checked and is at spec. I even pulled the flywheel off yesterday to look for any problems underneath and all was good. So idk what to do now the motor doesn't even want to start at all now except for maybe one fire up once real quick. All I can think is possibly flooded engine at this point so I was going to try tuning the carbs today but cant imagine that would help much... any thought??
-Thanks

Hey Wloomis,

I have been fighting a similar issue with my 115 2+2.

Make sure you have a good battery and BATTERY CABLES .
I know you say you getting fuel out of the carbs, I would check to make sure that your Fuel pump is really working. just pull the hose and make sure it is pumping,

Will it run if you spray premix in the carbs?

My fuel pump was bad and I rebuilt it wrong and still wasnt working. It would run on the fuel from the primer bulb then die.

They say spark, fuel, air and it will run. That is wrong. first you gotta have Enough Spark. Check it and make sure. Then you need the correct, or close, fuel air mix. Too much fuel/not enough air and it will not fire the cylinder. I learned that the hard way. Compression is easy, you got it or you don't. Last, you have to get the spark at the right time, or close. You can check each of those things and I guarantee when you have them all the motor kick over, at the very least. I am struggling with one as we speak, I would love to help someone else.
