Hello,
I have a 1995 Boston Whaler Dountless with a 3 cylinder 50 HP Oil Injected Mercury engine.
In general I have no performance problems and I had the impeller replaced last month. As far as I can tell, the engine is not overheating.

When I first start it up, it is smoking a lot. Then while running, the smoke is not as much, but distintly visible.
It seems to me that I am going through a quart of oil when I go through a 6 gallon tank, although I have not measured it exactly.

Is it possible that my injecter pump is not adjusted correctly ? Is there any adjustment for the amount of oil injected ?

The mechanic said that it is normal, but I have never seen this much smoke on any 2 strok engine before
Thank you

Hi,

You could always have the oil flow checked to see if it is in spec.
The pump will pump so much oil into a graduated cylinder in so much time.
I do not have the numbers for the test specs.
There are alignment marks for setup too.
2 strokes do smoke.
