I have a 1998 mercruiser vortec heads with a 2 barrel carb and was rebuilding when found the power valve assembly rod was broken so now I need a new or used carb . Mine has the fuel line feed on the side with the choke and my question is I have found similar carbs but there fuel line feed is on the front of carb but besides that they look identical . I found one that a guy has on a v8 and it is electric choke and looks identical to mine except the fuel line were it hooks up to carb his is in the front . I can move my fuel line around but I'm wanting to now is there a big difference on these 2 barrel marine carbs ln a v8 and v6 and I also seen the 4 cylinder 2 barrel carbs look the same . I need a used carb and can't afford what there asking for a new one . Even if it is one that needs rebuild for a good price .

Could use a bit more info

The power valve on a carb usually comes with the rod, so maybe just need a new one

The differences in all carbs is the size of the jets. A correct carb should supply an air fuel mixture around 14 to 1 ratio. Getting much leaner then that and damage will occur.

What carbs are you looking at?
