1998 mercury 150 dfi that wont rev up

started the engine today and would not rev up at all. took the cover off and tried doing it manually and still nothing. what could cause the engine not to rev up at all. its not a cable issue.

It would be best to post this in the Mercury Engine forum. Hopefully someone know what is wrong with your Optimax. It is an Optimax, right?
