1998 mercury 2 stroke 15hp died on me today

Hi folks, I was out in the tin boat today, was harder to start then usual, it's a two pull motor but had to go hard at it today but it finally started. I was able to get to WOT but as soon as I slowed down the motor died out on me. I could get it started but wouldn't idle and when I accelerated after start it would just die out. I had to row home . I am going to get a new fuel line and new gas mix as i am still running last year's gas. Any other suggestions, could it just be bad gas or should I get the fuel line in case? I know it's not the carb as it was professionally cleaned and tuned last summer. Thanks!

Check the vent on the tank /hoses & dump the old fuel (may have water in it)

Got it up and running was bad gas and fuel line/bulb.
