I am replacing the raw water pump impeller on my 1998 OMC/Volvo engine 57FCPBYC and have a couple of questions.

1. The new impeller came with 2 small round rubber disks. I took out the old impeller and it has one disk on the open end of the impeller. In the manual it does not show to use these disks. Are you supposed to use one, both or neither of these disks?

2. The manual says not to use any gasket sealant on the cover gasket. The instructions that came in the box say to use gasket sealant which is correct?

Thanks, Dave.

I usually see and install one plug, in case it helps. Have no idea what they are for.

Follow the manual. Is your impeller an OEM or aftermarket?
I never use sealer on the pump cover gasket. Makes the next impeller/gasket change very difficult when you go to clean the gasket surface and it's covered with sealer. Especially if you are in an awkward position and the pump hard to get to.

It is a VOLVO OEM impeller.

I will use one plug and no gasket sealer.

Thanks for the help.
