I have owned this boat for 13 years, it has been a great boat. I recently discovered water in the transom after removing a transduced. probably about an ounce of water poured out. I also noticed some intrusion around some of the through hull fittings. The wood on the port and starboard sides of the transom is soggy, center around the engine mounts was solid, but I think its about time to replace it all. might as well give the boat an overhaul if things go well with the transom.
ive stripped everything off the transom, engine, jackplate, trimtabs, transducer, ect. Im not sure how I want to go about tackling this project.
is it doable for me to remove the deck from the hull to access the transom from the inside?
Or should I cut the exterior skin of fiberglass to get to the core from the outside?
ill post some pictures of the boat in a while, but the type of boat I am speaking of Is like a hewes flats boat.
