Hello
I re did some upholstery and had to remove the control box, I did not open it or remove or alter any cables or linkage from the control box or at the motor. When I remounted the control box I can only get approx 4000 rpm. I took the shifter handle off to see if somehting was incorrect they way I put it together. I have the 2 wraps around the boss of the handle and the handle will only go on one way, so I dont think it is with the control box or handle.
Any ideas?
Thanx
Capt Crunch

Have a helper operate the shift and throttle lever while you stare at the carburetor linkage on the engine with the engine cover off. Verify that the throttle butterflies are opening all the way when the lever is all the way down. If it is you know the problem is somewhere else. If the butterflies aren't opening all the way you may have inadvertently twiddled something with the cables when you had the box off.

Hello
Thanx for your responses
I can do this by just taking the cover off and seeing if they are fully open.....can't I ?
The cam on the throttle body is lined up on the marks too when it is in neutral so I dont know whats going on
Thanx
Capt

hello
if this ius an EFI ox66 motor then when was the last time it ran correctly?
how long has it sat?
you can verify throttle opening by looking at the linkage on the stbd side of the throttle assy.
no need to remove anything.
good luck and keep posting
