1999 115HP motor very tough starting, if at all

When 1st running it will run well, from idle to WOT. After it heats up Motor wont run and can only start it when throttle is moved about 3/4 of the way but smokes very bad. It almost sounds like the timing might have jumped. New plugs, clean fuel filter. Compression is ok not the best. The acceleration pump was just replaced (not the fuel pump). The coils are about 5 years old.

The manual I use says for hard-starting hot: bad fuel (water), spark plugs (did you verify gap on your new plugs), ignition primary (when problem occurs check spark with an adjustable spark tester.. are you jumping 7/16" on each cylinder), and coil (a weak coil may "break down" as it becomes hot).

I would also say verify choke is open when restarting hot.

Cylinder 1 (starting at the top): 107 PSI, Cylinder 2: 105 PSI, Cylinder 3 101 PSI, and Cylinder 4 102 PSI.
