This afternoon I bought a 1999 Merc carbed 150 Bluewater XL, the marina took it in on a trade for new 2010 150 4 stroke Yammy, it looked nice they did a compression test in front of me all cylinders were 135 PSI with in a few pounds of each other. I got to talk to the original owner he bought new in 2001 and said the only problem he ever had was it was touchy to start cold. I just got done reading the owners manual and it states cold push the key in for 6 seconds to prime it then turn it to start. Am I assuming by what is written there is no choke but you "flood the carbs" to start cold? That's the way my old KTM dirtbikes started cold also. Engine is being rigged next week, I'm having the carbs rebuilt and a new impeller done also, tank run and dynoed...........I can't wait

I have the same engine on my 99 Pro-Line....during a cold start you do push the key in for a few seconds. Mine is a little cold blooded but other then that (knock on wood) she's been great!!
