Hello,

I am parting out a 1999 90 HP evinrude ficht motor on eBay. I am not too familiar with these motors. Somebody emailed me this:

"i have done some research and they say that the injectors must stay with ecu and are not interchangeable is this true ?
"

I was wondering if I could get some clarification on this matter, as I don't want to sell a part that will not work for this guy.

Any help would be appreciated.

When ever you change an injector on a mtr you have to reprogram the emm or ecu to make the injector function properly. Otherwise it could run to rich or to lean. What are the part #'s on the injectors you have ? I might have some info. Maybe.

Thanks for the reply. The part number on the injectors is: 5000583

All injectors have tolerances and are classified/sorted at production. This gives that each injector must be registered by the EMM with it classification (serial) number. You may swap injectors, but then you may have to enter the correct injector numbers in the EMM, which as far as I remember is NOT possible for the 1999 models unless you have the extended (distributor) version of the diagnostic software. It is an exception and that is for replacement injectors, but they are all in one 'class' and are just entered as 'replacement'.

Wow, interesting. So if an injector on someones 1999 ficht went, would he have to replace all 4 injectors and the EMM/ECU at once?

Thanks

No, he may replace one, but it has to be an original 'spare' one. He may then just enter ' replacement injector' for that specific cylinder as all replacements have same calibration which is pre-set in the ECM.
As far as I remember, this goes for all Fichts. Used to have a special prg myself where I could play around even with other injectors,(and a lot of other things) but not possible with the normal dealer software.

The 5000583 injector is what they called a non- compensated injector. You can use them in 1998 and 1999 6v4 and 6v6 with no computer up dates. If you part it out just make sure the injector being replaced has the same part # as yours.
