Hi,
I am looking at a 1999 Chaparral SST. Does anyone have this boat or have any opinions of it. It is really clean with a new motor. Thanks in advance!

We have one right now, had it for 2 years. I severely underestimated the amount of rot and waterlogged floor. Only had one soft spot ( I know, its never "just" one spot), but the previous owners apparently made no attempt to keep the boat covered and the floor was soaked. I also didn't notice how low it sat in the water in the stern, was a good indicator of the condition of the boat.

Having said all of that, we love the space on the boat and the layout, perfect for wakeboarding, room for the grandchildren etc.

YMMV , not sorry we bought the boat, I just I got too excited when I saw it and didn't pay attention to the details

Looking online it seems like it has a decent layout and power plant. I would as always with a boat that old want to make sure it is rot free or at least a great price so you can redo it in a few years.

Ok thanks for all the opinions! I stepped on all areas of the floor-corners and sides especially and it was all good. It has the standard layout (the back to back seating). I ended up buying it!! It just needs some cleaning up and will be good to go. I just am wondering how it handles chop (I live on a big lake) and top speed with a 4.3l 180hp? Thanks!
