AM LOOKING AT PURCHASING 99 ISLANDER 2001 W/ 5.0 MERCRUISER I/O.
(asking 8995.00) TO BE USED PRIMARILY IN BAY AND GULF OF MEXICO. SOME FISHING. MOSTLY PLEASURE BOATING. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY PRO OR CON EXPERIENCE TO SHARE ABOUT THIS YEAR CRAFT AND POWER SET UP. THANKS.

Well I also just recently purchased a 1999 starcraft islander 2001 with a 4.3 litre I/O. Only concern I have are the guages that are all linked together on a circuit board as one would find in your vehicle. Corrossion has set in and the guages do not function. The mechanics tell me it is now better to make a new dashboard and separetly wire each guage in. New guages are about $300.00 plus labour... probably 4 hours so that would put it at approximately $700.00. I should add that this boat had been stored in a lean type shed, open in the front and subject to damp conditions at times.
