I have purchased my first boat and doing some pre-launch checks and found something I needed to get answered prior to launch day!
My brother-inlaw and I were looking at the engine and decided to removed two of the brass screws (noted in attached picture) and it looked as thought they were full of oil. Is this suppose to be? These looked like float bowls to me but don't know if this motor has carbs on them or fuel injectors, either way, are they suppose to be full of oil?
we also found this wire disconnected (see photo) and was wondering if this is the VRO oil sensing alarm? The VRO is still connected and we found that the fuel/water filter had a lot of water in it. We used a external gas can with pre-mixed gas and got the engine to run for short periods, like 10-30 seconds or so.
Should I drain these float bowls(?) of this oil and rerun with the external tank again? This oil I'm explaining, it's not fuel with some oil in it, it looks like dark oil that one would see if they haven't changes the automobile in a while.
This jar (see attached pic) is from the fuel/water filter and we also drained some of the fuel from the tank when we disconnected the fuel line form the engine. Most of the fluid on the bottom came from the filter, the fuel from the tank looked as though it had oil already pre-mixed in it.
