I've been busy trying to get my new(Used) boat into the water come this Sunday. Have already installed new bilge pump, live well pump and rewired them. Re-wired the electronics, GPS, Sonar and New Radio. Cleaned up the wiring under the console, What a mess it was! Installed new trailer lights and re-wired the trailer.
The only thing I got left to do is get the engine to stay run properly. I am using an external tank with pre-mixed to temporarily by-pass the fuel that was in the tank before, not sure it's age and wanted to eliminate that from my troubleshooting I am having to do now!
Tomorrow I will be starting off with a compression test, plugs look new, real clean looking. I did have a lot of oil in the float bowels originally, but since I've swithced over to the external tank that appears to have cleared up. I drained the fuel bowl and seen nice clean pre-mix fuel.
I was thinking of spraying the carbs with carb cleaner or adding something in the pre-mix gas can, any ideas on this?
Not sure if I need the tether installed, could this be the issue? Will trying attaching this tomorrow before the compression test to verify.
The engine does fire up, runs for a few seconds, perhaps 5-10 secs, than cuts off.
Any ideas would be welcomed!
Thanks.
