I have a 1999 Johnson 150 HP and I want to know if running the Champion Q (resistor?) sparkplugs or not running them will effect the electronic ignition system? There is a reference in the Johnson manual that seems to indicate by not using the suppresor plugs (Q....) will effect the ignition, is this true?

The "Q" plugs are a supressor, not really a resistor. And yes, not using them can effect the operation of the ignition system. Typically the interference can cause the ignition system to "miss" or make it go into S.L.O.W. mode (which is an overheat self-protect feature).

-John
