Hi. I'm replacing the gasket between drive shaft (exhaust) housing and adaptor plate on my Mariner 50hp from 1999 (serial no. 0G775189). Received the new gasket from the dealer today (part no 27-892320001), and I'm puzzled. See picture: the gasket is two gaskets which are bolted together. Anyone out there who knows why? I first thought I must have received two by accident, but the gaskets are not identical, they/the embossed parts are "mirrored".

Looks like a factory " improved " part.---I would use it the way it was shipped to you.

thanks for respons. I'll do that. Got response from the dealer now "probably a multi-layer gasket". It's very fat and sturdy, but anyway not possilbe to separate the parts without causing some damage.
