Hi there,

My problem is this.

In forward I can only get maybe 4 Knots of speed even at full throttle. RPM's do not come up as I increase throttle.

I have removed cabling from the equation and still find the issue exists.

In reverse, engine is acting as per normal ie plenty of pulling power.

Other than problems in forward the engine is perfect ie idles fine, starts/ stops fine.

After reading some posts on this list, I removed the prop to check for wearing. Looks fine although I cannot see the rubber part thatr is referred to in "spun prop posts".

Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

Regards
Paul Matthews

speartime , Sounds like a linkage problem. With boat out of water of course, remove engine cover and note whether external carb linkage is fully actuating from nuetral position to full throttle.May have to have someone spin prop while shifting from nuetral .Also remove intake cover and note whether carb flaps are opening fully horizontal at full throttle position. If all checks fine you likely have restriction in carb jets and or fixed porting.Since you stated that engine rpms did not increase in forward gear position when applying throttle ,at this time,I would rule out possible spun prop.

Thanks for the idea's Ob,

Finally found the problem, a loose screw had wedged under the gear selector, could'nt go into gear enough for full power.

Sweet, I was getting worried it might be expensive.
