What does MPI stand for and why is it such a bad thing? MPI territory? Don S why is all everything that I have found worthless up to this point, I thought that I was on the right track... Is there anything that I can do?

MPI stands for Multi-Port Injection.
It's computer controlled, including the ignition system, fuel deliver, everything.
Read section 5D of the service manual linked to back on post 6 of this thread. It explains how it works and the system operation.
It completely different from how a carburated engine works.

I am currently reading. You seem to know about how the system works. Do you have any ideas on what was fried or any idea on what I can do?

Take it to a Merc dealer and let them check it out with either a DDT or a computer. You very well may have killed the computer (ECM) if all the breakers are ok.

Is there nothing more that I can do / test?

My circuit breaker is a red button that is fully extended out and will not push in or move at all. Does that mean anything? Would that stop it from sparking but still allow it to crank and still allow voltage to ther components... I know its a long shot. Thank you.

How far out is the red button (go measure it)? The IN position still has the button sticking out a bit, about 1/2". If the CB was tripped you would NOT be able to crank the engine....

Best thing right now would be to take the boat to a Merc dealer and have him throw the diagnostic tool on it... Will save you a lot of time and frustration... and probably money...

Just got the call: Bad Ignition Sensor was causing the problem, so I went ahead had the cap, points, sensor, wires, plugs all replaced and gave it a basic tune up. Total Cost $200.00...

Wakeboarding behind my boat this afternoon... Priceless.

Thank you all.
