Motor starts fine and idles fine. Problem is, once I put here in forward and get about 1700 rpms she bogs and cuts off.

I have trouble shot her in accordance with the manual from the tank to the motor, have a tight bulb. Engine oil is correct. Plugs are good. DOn't really know what to check next? Hate to take her to the shop if I am missing something...ANY SUGGESTIONS? Thanks in advance!

The correct model will help in troubleshooting. Sounds like you're following the owner's manual for startup information... This problem is likely a bit beyond that. A Factory service manual, available from any Tohatsu/Nissan dealer, (not an aftermarket paper weight) is a good investment.

You probably have a 70C. Time to start Proper troubleshooting. What is the history on the motor? Is this the first that you've had this problem? Your problems may be fuel-related. Were the carbs drained last winter? Are you using Fresh fuel? Is it within your skills to remove the carbs, disassemble them, soak them in dip, blow out all passages, and then reassemble and adjust them? If so, cool. If not, you may want to get to a dealer.

Possible fueling issue? Check the air vent on the tank, check all hoses and connections, blow through with compressed air, clean fuel filters.

Carbs, strip, inspect and clean, might be crap blocking high speed jets.

Another thing you could try is to disconnect the arm that synchs each carb and manually open up the butterfly to see if the engine revs freely or bogs down; this may indicate which carb that may be playing up.

You have checked the spark plugs check the leads and spark plug caps for cracks and damage.

Thanks for the replies guys. I wound up putting her in the shop. Will post the diagnosis and repair when finished for future reference to others.

I was in fact using the owners manual, and went as far as I can go not being a mechanic. My guess is power pack or coil, we'll see.
