I have the same motor. 24/1. Make sure it comes with the pressurized tank or your in for a search. If the motor hasn't been used in awhile, make sure to clean out the water passages, and replace the impellor. Both easy jobs on that one. Mine also needed a head gasket and carb kit, but it's a nice lightweight motor with some zip. I love mine...

how fast can I expect this motor to scoot me? I see someone is from manchester missouri! I am sooo close to that...ofallon mo. so I put on some cheap wood on both seats with some poly eurithane...that wood sucks it up soooo fast...anyway. I am gonna borrow a saw to put wood over top the rotted transom board. I am gonna seal it really well...maybe poly...ans then paint. the trick will be getting it to stay on!

can you lay a motor on it's side when not on the boat...like close the gas line off and run it out of gas...then pull the line out...and motor off the boat...and lay on its side?

I didn't see anyone address this comment at the end of a previous post, but generally you should only put an outboard on it's "back", meaning prop facing down, not on it's side or front. Otherwise water may drain into the powerhead causing all sorts of damage that you really do NOT want.

ahh yeah, i forgot about that...thanks...so i guess i should keep an eye on it when i put it in the suv...i guess i could set it in the boat....in the back by the transom board...then it could not move, and it would probably fit great

Read the thread "Awakening A Sleeping Outboard," that'll tell you what to do to get it up and going. Take a piece of 2X6 or at least 2X4 lumber with you when you pick it up. Clamp the lumber into the motor's transom clamp and you have an easier way to lift it and move it. Also rides better in the truck or boat if you have it clamped to a handle, can't roll over or bounce around too much.

Please see the forum/post that addresses this specific topic in much greater detail than worth going through here.

Missouri requires you to register the motor as well. It is a one time fee and the registration is good as long as you own the motor. You also have to pay personal property tax on it yearly. On that motor it should only amount to a few dollars per year. You have to write it in on next years personal property tax declaration. I have a 14 foot jon and trailer and a 9.5 hp registered and is only about 10 bucks a year in personal property tax. Without a title motors can be a pain in the but to register, a lot of red tape but it can be done. Someone told me that if you take it out to George Winter Park in Fenton water patrol will get you started on the process. I don't ever recall seeing an actual water patrol office out there but I have heard that from several different people. You could also call the DMV and ask them, but most of the time they are not very helpful. That should be a nice little rig with that 7.5 on there. Keep us posted.
