1st cruiser

Ok guys, we just purchased out 1st cabin cruiser. She is a 1990 sea ray 250 sundancer with the 454/bravo unit in her. She runs excellent. Im having some problems trying to figure out how to operate all the different systems on her, like the refrigerator, stove, outlets and things like that. When I look at the breaker panel, and turn the main switch on, nothing happens. Does the panel only become active when plugged into shore power? The reason I ask this is when I take the 4 screws off of the panel, I notice that the main wiring going to the AC meter is coming from the shore power outlet.
I purchased the boat from a broker at the marina so I really didn't have any contact with the previous owner. I was told that everything on it does work though. Any ideas here would be grateful.

Yes, boat MUST be plugged into shore power for the 120VAC to operate. I see you have an inverter switch, which will enable you to
run a few items (fridge,TV, etc.) off battery power when you are not connected to shore power.

Eric, you crossed over into RV Boating, congrats! When I first got an RV style camper I had to learn many new systems and methods and such. Luckily I have two brothers that blazed that trail before me and helped me out, one is full-time retired and travelling. Things like "shore" power (plugged into the campsite power of 30amp, 50amp, etc), blackwater, graywater, coach lights, inverter use and how coach batts get charged (or not!), waste dumping or pumpout, horizontal propane tanks, lots of stuff. You will have the same type of learning curve if this type of RV-ish use is totally new to you.

Thanks guys, but i cant even get the stinking horns to work. When i push the button I can hear a very slight faint noise coming from them but nothing really noticible. Im at a loss here, lol.:faint2:

Horn's don't usually last very long. For that age of boat, you are lucky that they even make a faint sound.

I can relate. I was fortunate enough that Carver still has Owner's Manuals in .pdf format. Maybe SeaRay has them as well. Give the factory a shout.

Hi slip away, that's funny, you're from the northwest lower part of Michigan. That's where I got the boat from, Bellaire..

Horn's don't usually last very long. For that age of boat, you are lucky that they even make a faint sound.

Some of the best boating anywhere in Michigan in that area. We love Torch Lake.

Be careful with the inverter. It can consume your battery power quickly.
