Re: 1st restore on a 14ft ski boat
Ok today I started cutting my timber up, 2 x 3/4 for the transom, 1/2 for the deck , 3/4 for the stringers and 1/4 for the bow and stern parts removed ( i figure when I glass these that the strenght will be there so hence the 1/4" just for the shape of the pieces).
This is the transom cut up and put in place, I copied it from what I removed but my coping was a slight bit off and when cut there were slight differences between the 2 peices but the fillets will make it up

I also copied the deck from what i pulled out.
I will fix the transom in a while I plans on using CSM on the back and in between the 2 pieces then clamp in place. I have holes at the back from where the motor is attached so I'll drill using these holes to bolt the new transom tight in place and also clamp it on top.
Once set in place I plan on then filleting around it and tab it , and the stringers set in place too.
Should I glass the stringers before setting them in place or just coat them with the resin only??
So far I'm enjoying doing this as the end product will put my mind at ease when I ploughing through a bit of a chop, my jigsaw and skill saw work may need a slight bit more of concentration but overall not doing too bad.
I am aiming to get all the glasswork done this week so I can flip it and start working on sorting out the scrapes and gouges underneath her.
What is the best method to re attach the cap ? it was stapled on by a million staples but would screwing, bolting or riveting be a better job??
