That's a great way to buy a boat. Define your size, application, and avail. $$$'s. Find one you like, and buy it.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy..

Well, I had been looking for about a year or so. It's hard to find a good used boat as there is a bunch of junk out there.
It came with a SS prop, and engraved on it is 19P. I am assuming that means pitch, right? The previous owner told me he replaced it to get a better hole shot for skiing, which it does very well. The top end like you said above has fallen out- it tops at about 43. He told me with the old prop it would do approx 52-54mph (does that sound like baloney to anyone?). As a second prop, should I look down in pitch to add top end like in a 16 or 17 or up to 20 (I don't know the ranges)? Is it possible to really add 10mph just by changing props?

The 52 mph was likely a "happy speedo" reading. Boat speedometers are notoriously optimisitic. Actual speed (use a GPS) will be a few mph less. Bigger pitch number results in bigger speed. Up until the pitch gets too big and the motor is not turning enough rpm to make enough power for that speed. You need to be sure the motor is making all the power it can at the proper rpm before messing with different props.

Kelly
