Hello all..<br /> I have been given a 12 foot sears fiberglass boat which i have restored. I purchased a 3 hp. johnson for it, and then was quickly given a 6 hp johnson. I have the manual for the 3 hp, but have no info at all on the 6 hp. I need year, and fuel mix ratio, if possible. Model# cd-25r Serial j2910289 Awesome forum here.. Thanx in advance

I believe the fuel mix on all OBs is 50 to 1

CD-25R Johnson is a 1968 model.Fuel mix ratio at 50:1 will be fine.Note that previous to 1965 John/Rudes that the fuel mix ranges from 16:1 to 32:1.

Thanx so much..One other question, Is there something i should do before running this motor? It's been sitting for 3+ years in storage, and i was wondering if other than add gas, are there fluids to check?.. or things to lube up?. I must say, this is the best resource i have ever seen.. And the quickest. thanx again

Drain, inspect the condition, and change lower unit lube.Remove sparkplug and inject some two cycle oil into cylinder and rotate engine by hand several strokes to distribute the oil and prelube cylinder.Install new sparkplug .I would also recommend draining the carb bowl and flushing through the fuel lines before attempting to start engine. It is likely the carburetor may need removing and given a thorough cleaning as two strokes are prone to developing gummy restrictive deposits when not used regularly. If you perform this procedure ,do it with the use of a manual specific to your engine to insure the float setting and linkages are correctly adjusted.Good luck.
