The 2.0 Sea Drive is the same as the 2.0 V4 looper outboard powerhead except for the upper main bearing housing. You need the tall version instead of the short one.

If all you have is one stuck piston, I would rebuild that one.

Good luck!

Dhadley:
Thanks for your response. Can a novice mechanic do a rebuild or should i rely on experenced repairman? I've worked on autos but not outboards except for simple tune up? do you know if i can increase hp with rebuild?

Re: 2.0 liter seadrive

The "can I do it" is a loaded question. My reply would be -- I can do it so therefore ANYBODY should be able to do it.

If you have a good marine machine shop for the boring I would guess you can. Start by taking the powerhead off. That alone will save some bucks even if it does end up at a rebuilder. If you run into problems then you can drag her in.

As far as horsepower goes, yes you can increase the hp of those. Can you take advantage of it? Probably not. The Sea Drives have a set X dimension which you may or may not be able to change. They are pretty healthy like they are. I wouldnt worry about it.

Good luck!
