I was cleaning out a closet the other day and ran across two .22 rifles; a cheapie Marlin semi-auto and a nylon Remington Model 66. Obviously I wasn't using them since I'd forgotten they were even there. So, the next day I asked my gun nut buddy (we all have at least one, right?) if he had any thoughts about them and he offered to buy them on the spot. Apparently the Model 66 was the .22 his generation was raised on and has become quite popular as a nostalgia item, and he wanted to give the little Marlin to his son in law. I told him what I really wanted was a nice reliable shotgun for shooting at quackers. As it turned out he had just the thing.
A few days later he went home with the .22s and I went home with an 870 Express Super Mag in new condition. I was a little apprehensive because the .22s hadn't been fired in at least ten years, but he let me know the other day he fired some rounds through both guns without incident and was very happy with the swap. I am too of course. How 'bout that, guys?
