I have a 2.3L OMC I've been working on. I bought it out with a project so it was already out of the boat. I Have new starter, solenoid, ignition switch, cap, rotor, coil, plugs, and have adjusted points. When I hit the key switch the starter kicks on and I have fire and motor will run, but as soon as let go of the key (to disengage starter) the motor dies and won't stay running.
Does anybody have any ideas? I've been tinkering with this thing for a few weeks now and have gone thru the process of elimination to get to where I am now, just wanting to get the thing running to get it dropped in and hopefully get it on the water a few times this year.
Any advice is appreciated.

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Have you tested the back of the key switch, with a test light, for power when, 'n where it should be,..??

It sounds like yer sendin' power down the "Start" circuit(yellow/ red wires), but not powerin' the "Ignition" circuit(purple wires),.....

Could be from the key switch, or at the motor,....
Check the ignition coil's (+) terminal, with the key, "On",.....
