(2) Carburetor Balancing Necessary

In reading TDaddy?s FA/Q post for carb cleaning there is no mention of carburetor balancing. He does however say to; If possible, leave all linkages between carburetor(s) intact /undisturbed.

My Suzuki (DT50) shop manual states in boldface print ?This balancing is mandatory after the engine has been dissembled, or the carburetors have been disturbed, by removal or by disassembly?.

This is my first multi carbureted motor. My question is:

If I remove my carburetor(s), clean and reinstall them without disturbing the linkage will I then need to balance them? Or will they be good to go after idle adjustments?

Re: (2) Carburetor Balancing Necessary

What is the ?common name? for this carburetor balancer?

Are they universal, the Suzuki manual provides a tool part #; if possible I would like to purchase one from an aftermarket source?

Difficulty level <?> I have not done this before, would I be better off paying the dealer to perform this task?

The manual lays it out pretty good, however I am not sure when they say "Inlet Case Hose" connected to the carburetor what exactly there referring to?(help?)

Thanks for your input.

on your suzuki carb balancing with a manometer is nessasary. you may get by without it but you may not either.
the F90 I did the carbs on today has to have the link and sync done with a 4 readout manometer at a specified RPM, I use the techmate vacum mate but cheaper setups are avalible.
some carbs simply require the shutters to be sychronized in the fully closed position as they are usually of a fixed jet design.
however thats why each engine model from every make has a service manual outlining the procedure and nessasary tooling to accomplish that procedure.

Where can I get the manual for adjusting the carbs on my Suzuki DT50 1980-82 model?

Rayless, what you have done is called hijacking. Worse, you have done it to a 2 year old thread. It is very bad internet manners.

You will get far better response if you open a new thread to deal with your question.

you have done it to a 2 year old thread.

How is it hijacking when it is a 2 year old thread?? lol. Its true that he shouldnt do that with a current thread, but i dont think anyone is going to be affected in this case. :)
