I have 2 gallons of mercury quicksilver 2 cycle oil. Would I be able to use this oil in 2 cycle engines other than an outboard - like my weedwacker-trimmer?? tyhanks
Shoulda emailed me LD...I would have taken it.Originally posted by LubeDude:
I just sold 4 gallons of quicksilver in my local free (things for sale paper) called the Shopper for $20.00. It was a free listing. The guy was happy to get it and I had calls all weekend. Finally put a message on my phone that it was gone.
I cant hardly beleive you got away with that for that long, I hear horror stories of people doing that and there equipment didnt last a week. I sure wouldnt recomend it, but it sure seems YOU got away with it.Originally posted by BinLurkin:
I was a gardener for 10 years & all I ever used was outboard 2 cycle oil from K-Mart in my weed eater, blower, chainsaw & hedge trimmer. I figure if it's good enough for a several hundred horsepower outboard, it's good enough for the little yard engines.

[/QB]
I only recently started using synthetic in my 2 cycle equipment. Before that I also used outboard oil for several years. No problems. Like I said, it may not be the best oil, but all of them say they are ok for use in small air cooled engines. It's certainly going to be a hell of alot better than 30 weight oil...Originally posted by LubeDude:
[/QB]I cant hardly beleive you got away with that for that long, I hear horror stories of people doing that and there equipment didnt last a week.
