Please if you know any of the two following questions, throw in your two cents.

This might be the easiest question for you guys out there... I goofed up by not taking better notes when taking apart everything on the engine, but on a 74 evinrude 50 hp:

a) Which is the #1 cylinder?
b) How do you know without a book that clear as day says it? (because the 2 books I have don't say it)

Thanks!

By accepted convention, Cylinders are numbered from the top. So #1 is the highest one.

Now, I can think of at least one where the rule goes out the window, but that is because it is a car engine up-ended on an outboard. Nevermind, yours is #1 on top.
