I have a 1958 10 hp I believe...the cover hinges in the center and opens
from each side. I am trying to convert this antique to a single fuel line
and run off of a 2 to 3.5 psi electric fuel pump. Can anyone tell me how
to do this? PLEASE! Thanks a million! this is a envinrude by the way~

Re: 2 fuel lines to one conversion

there is a link at the top of this forum to converting to a vacuum pump. If you convert to an electric you will need to have a battery on board to run it. I think you are better off converting to vacuum. That is what I am doing on my 58. I will cost you about 30 dollars to do.

Sounds good but the motor they are talking about is a 35 hp and mine is
10...I just got this motor and I'am not familiar with any differances. I already
have the electric pump and battery but I don't know what to plug up etc...
I really thank you for your advice believe me! Monty

It's the same procedure for the 35 or the 10. Using a vacuum pump is close to original. Using an electric and a pump is not. You have to be very careful when using an electric as it needs to run only when the engine is running and stop when the engine stops.

Do you have the 2 line pressure tank that came with the 10? I have a few of those engines and they work fine with the tank.

you plug the air hose, you need a fuel filter. there have been many motors ruined trying to do it the way your are.

No I don't...thats my whole problem...Money is a issue and I have the small
electric pump that's switched when the motor is on or off. I would prefer to
do it the way you are telling me too..I do have a 58 it has a 4 bolt lower
unit. I am great on Automotive carbs but I'am unfamilier with boat carbs..
Thanks again for all your suggestions.... Monty

Re: 2 fuel lines to one conversion

What can I damage on the motor?? I know when the motor stops so should the pump..I just can't tell what to plug off and what to use? I guess I would
still use the fuel inlet to the carb. and just plug off the rest? Using a small
elect. pump that is...

Re: 2 fuel lines to one conversion

from the fuel line connector are 2 hoses, one goes to the fuel filter, the other goes to the lower front of the block, under the carbs, this line you block off, i just put a bolt in it with a hose clamp. your fuel line from the pump replaces the hose to the fuel filter.

I think you will also need a bypass cover that already has the fuel pump mount moulded into it. Niether of my 1958 10 hp motors have that bypass cover so I suspect yours doesn't either.

Better hope your battery doesn't die or you'll lose 2 engines! Oars would be a good backup :)

Congratulations on the fuel pump installation. I'm also interested in what pump you used.

I run a Speed Shop in Arkansas and we had a Mr Gasket inline #42s it has
a psi rating of 2.5--4 made for a small 4cyl/6cyl less than 2amp draw..
