is there a sealer that should be used for a head gasket for a 2R72M TIA

I did not see anything on the package to indicate weather it need it or not taking the gasket out it was wrapped in plastic sheeting and looked like it had been sprayed with some type of sealer

That "sprayed with sealer" look (glossy appearance) is a self sealer that will seal at the engine warms up. The older gaskets didn't have that enhancement but they still didn't use sealer..... just a coating of oil was all they required.
