Re: 2 hp mate pull rope problem
Did the whole thing go ka-flooey, or just won't engage now? If it is still intact, simply tighten the screw and it should be good to go.
But if it all came apart, the basics from the beginning are:
1.Wind the spring in the housing, going counterclockwise
2.Remove the rope handle, then grab the knot at the other end and pullit out of the pulley.
3.Put the pulley in the housing, making sure the pin goes in the eyelet of the spring.
4. Lube and install the center spindle and screw & tighten. Oh, I forgot to mention: You should have removed the pawl and links by now.
5. See that little about 1/8" hole in the pulley? Find a nail or something that will go through it, and keep it ready for the next step.
6. Wind the pulley counterclockwise, all the way. HANG ONTO it. If it gets loose and flies back it will wreck the spring. Once it is wound as far as it will go, back it off one turn, and stick the nail in the hole. That will keep it from unwinding and you can turn loose.
7. Now take your time and thread the rope into the pulley and out the exit hole in the housing. Note that it goes behind a pin near the knot end.
8. Install rope handle.
9. Hang onto the rope and remove the nail and let it rewind.
10. Install pawl and links.
11. Done.
