I recently overhauled the carb on my 2 hp evinrude (1976). I took it out on the lake after and it ran great. I did notice that when I stopped on the way home that there was a small amount of gas leaking from below the float bowl. What I had not done during the first overhaul (reason: lazy) was replace the packing etc on both the hi and low speed needles, and was advised to do so by the experts in this forum. Did that, but the leak was still there and then noticed it was actually coming from the lead plug at the side of the bowl. Gently tapped the plug and the leaking stopped. However, now when i start it, it only runs with the choke closed
What's up? Could it be the way I replaced the packing or is there something else gone wrong.
What causes this to happen after it ran so good?
Thanks gang, always appreciate the help
