I just replaced two orings in a old two line connector, and they don't seal good, I think when it it is hooked up to the motor it will seal good, but when disconnected it will leak. I read an old post on here about a jig to completely take apart these connectors and fix them right. If anyone knows anything about this subject, please help me out. thanks....tony

I used 2 that I bought off ebay that said they were for this application, but you never really know. It said they were new old stock.

well before going to far why not get new ones from your BRP dealer and start over

I'm frank of franksoutboardtools Two common problems: People dig around in there with makeshift tools and scratch up the inside of the seal retainer. Then it leaks because of the scratches. Another problem is wrong size o-rings. And (ahem) the aftermarket ones are wrong size. The ones from BRP and sold by Evinrude dealers are correct size. Yeah, they are over-priced. What can I say? You can also buy a generic o-ring that is close. I'd have to get my book out to find the size.

BTW, regardless of the o-rings, you should loosen the cap to relieve the pressure before disconnecting the hose connector from the motor. Old-timers love that hiss anyway.

Think that's Frank's younger son in the picture -- ask for him if ordering anything. The old man is getting a a little tough to deal with. (AOMCI friend down there told me last summer that he still knows his stuff, though.);)

Release the pressure before disconnecting, but keep a shop rag handy anyway. Can run the gas out of those carbs like any other, btw, if that's your routine. If the connection is dry when running, I would use it the way it is. Check it now and then.

Well , I took the o rings out and threw them away and went to mylocal Johnson dealer and bought 2 overpriced orings, and they work good. I did scratch around in the fitting with a oring pick, but it coulden't be helped. short of a jig to take the fitting apart and smooth out all the scratches, I think it seals ok...thank all of you for the info, I should have cone here first.....Tony

Frank's jig does make it easier to change them but if you are careful can do without it. Glad you got it fixed.

I have Franks Jig as well, have probably changed a couple hundred fittings with it, and still works perfectly! In fact, I just go down and change o rings for fun. ;)
