2 livewells

AS you know from previous posts, I have just bought a new boat, well a used one. I have noticed that I have a livewell in the rear of the boar and a bait keeper or a smaller livewell in the front. Neither one has a pump or an aerator, but it does have all the hoses and piping in the livewell. The rear has two hoses coming out to the rear of the boat, and the front has an inlet at the front side of the boat and is released at the rear of the boat. My question is, what kind of pump do I buy for each? I would like to have the both of them pull and release water and reciruclate cause I usually will fish 8-10 hours each time I go out. Any suggestions would be great.

Re: 2 livewells

I'm not familiar with your previous posts. How do you know you don't have pumps in the boat? Did someone remove them or are you expecting to see them in the livewell? I'm sorry if I have been too basic, I just don't know how much you know about boating or your specific boat.

HAHA sorry I deserved that, I was to basic and never gave enough information.

There was one pump connected at the stern exiting the boar.....it did not work so I was going to see if I could test it and came to find out the pump was broke before at the outlet pipe and siliconed it back on as well as put a support piece of wood to help keep in from moving. So I have removed the pump and blocked both hoses to prevent leaking. I also was also was able to make the pump work, but problem is the outlet connection leading out the back of the boat is broke. So I just want to buy a new one. Also when doing this, I noticed the hoses and piping to the stern livewell that does not have a pipe......to fill that one up, I just open the plug and it fills with water. I hope that helps you out and again thanks for all the help.

Double check to be sure there isn't a pump, it would be on the back of the boat on the very bottom of the transom, you may be mistaking a drain for the pump, sounds odd to have 2 plumbed wells and no pump.
If there isn't one they have them in the iboats store for $25.
I have 2 wells on mine and they are both feed from the same pump, just install a T in the line and I got a livewell timer at Cabelas, they have them at iboats store too for $37, both of those a really good prices by the way, anyhoo, it will turn the pump on every 3 minutes and let it run for 2-3 minutes so you always have fresh water.
Recirculators are good for driving to the water but not as good as fresh water so I would start with the timer.

Yes I am pretty sure I do not have a pump and also the plumbing are separate from each other........but do you recommend a pump or an aerator pump?? or is there not difference??....That is truly what I am not sure one.

We must have been typing at the same time, that info helps.
Sounds funny, if you can pull a plug and it fills without a pump the outlet would have to be below the waterline where the pump would normally be.
Generally drains are above the waterline and fills are below.
Mine I have 1 pump to fill both, the front well has an overflow and main drain tied together with a T that go out the side of the gunwall, the same on the back except that one drains out the rear.
I think yours is just plumbed funny, to make this work you need a fill hole up high with a sprayer(airator) on each well,an overflow and a drain on each, overflow high with a drain on the bottom, can drain from the same one just need more hose and some T's.

I would go with the pump and timer, that gets you fresh water all the time, where a recirculator just repumps the water that is already in the tank so it puts oxygen in but doesn't get rid of bacteria ect that build up over time.
I actually have both on mine but the recirc is more for getting to the launch with live bait then I switch to fresh water pump.
Hope that helps. still alittle confusing
