2 or 3 plugs?

Hey guys,

Just bought a boat over the winter, and not getting alot of help and answers from the previous owner...

But I have a 2005 merc 496 magnum. Self contained antifreeze motor. and the question is he took out the blue drain plugs when winterizing. and there are 3 plugs? have the two in the bottom sides of left and right side of motor. Question is am I dealing with just an extra plug or am I missing a hole that is needing plugged . First antifreeze motor, so that is why im a little confused.

Ayuh,... Got a serial #,..?? Pictures maybe,..??

If it's cooled by antifreeze, 'n heat exchanger, You shouldn't have the drain plugs outa the Block...

I can try to get the serial # tomorrow... But like I said bought the boat over the winter, so he had it winterized over winter and bought the boat that way. know he did have it winterized at dealer.... But thanks for the response... As soon as it quits raining here, I would really like to get it out!

Check your raw water pump (Starboard side low), it may have 2 of those plugs in it, even though you have the air actuated system.
As long as your pump and intake hoses to the pump are plugged, all you have to do is start it up to find the other ones.
but, if you start it without plugs in the pump, you wouldn't get water to the pump and would burn up the impeller.

You may or may not have the plugs shown here.

Don, So looks like starboard side has two right next to each other... I have the port side in and the lower starboard one in, So I guess the one left is the one right above lower starboard? Thanks so so much!
