What sort of sealer do y'all use between the upper and lower section of the gearcase housing, on the late 60s and 70s smaller hp lower units? They no longer sell the spaghetti seal for the '75 Evinrude 40 I am working on. We have a couple ideas, but want to hear other opinions.

Also, around the cowl, the weather stripping is no longer sold. What do y'all use for that?

Thanks.

For weather stripping I've used fuel hose, split down one side.

As for the spaghetti seal, it most certainly is still available. All three of the kits I've bought this spring have had it...

Get the Johnson Cowl Seal, It is the same except that the color is black. Part 317173. If your dealer can't be bothered, check sea-way.com in Seattle Washington.

The spaghetti for the gearcase comes in rolls and seaway will have it #309044.You need about 18 inches. It is also available from Sierra as part 18-2534: http://www.iboats.com/Marine_Store/...**********.296693571--submit.x.41--submit.y.8

The Mallory seal is the same stuff and you get 10 feet compared to the Sierra 40 inches??

Hmm.
shop2.evinrude.com lists both as not available.
#44 for the spaghetti seal on here.

And the cowl seal not available.

My dad was the one looking for parts today, and called me to tell me he can't find it anywhere. I didn't figure that he had checked only that site, and not iboats. Had I realized that, it probably would have saved y'all a bit of trouble.

Thanks though,
