A couple of questions on a Lark VI, Rude 40, 1964 electric shift.

Firstly thx for all previous advice, boat is up and running well…. Took my boys out fishing last Wednesday…which caused some questions for this post.

1. I notice that my motor does not actually "pee" a steady stream, rather is throws out a strong mist with large droplets…the water impeller has been changed, but since I have only had this motor for 2 months I do not know what to expect.

2. My WOT speed went down to about 66% of what I normally have since during the fishing venture I had approx. 700 pound of (4) people and tackle, and normally it is just my youngest son and me…or about 300 pounds of weight…not knowing about speed and buoyancy would this speed reduction be normal…I ask since I just rebuilt the carburetor and am trying to do diagnostics…other than that the engine ran steady…

Thx all…I will await your reply

Re: 2. Q's : Pee

Your engine doesn't have a tell-tale. The mist you see is the water being expelled from the exhaust bypass ports. That's normal. More than doubling the load you carry can certainly cut performance by the amount you are seeing. How much actually depends on the hull, and how well the engine & prop setup was originally. Without engine rpm and speed data under both conditions its hard to predict what you should be seeing.
