2 Q's. Tilt & VRO conv.

Well, still haven't had much time to look at this motor I am working on between the rain and long hours at work, but I have 2 more question I figure you guys can help me with. First one, are the manual tilt/trim cylinders serviceable? I was told the previous owner drained the fluid out (I think because he was too cheap to replace a broken cable) and I would like to get it fixed until I can afford to buy a power tilt/trim unit. Second question, this motor is a 1991 40hp. I suspect the fuel pump is wearing out and I checked with the dealer today for a new one. Boy, they sure are proud of them things! $345.00! Anyway, is there anything else that can go bad in them other than the diaphram? They have a "rebuild" kit for $30. Seems like a no brainer. If the diaphram won't solve the problem, I think I may switch to mixing gas and was wondering what a good part number was for a fuel pump to do the conversion. I guess that actually makes 3 questions, sorry. Thanks for the help again!

i have a 93 40 Johnny, i don't know if the tilt assist cylinders are serviceable or not. mine came without oil tank, all i did was unplug the alarm sending unit wire, and block off the oil line, and premixed. it is my understanding the the gas side of the pump can be rebuilt, but not the oil side. this is the only motor i have that i don't have a manual for.

Why do you think your fuel pump is weak? They either work or do not.

According to the parts catalog, the tilt assist cylinders are not serviceable. You can only replace the entire cylinder. I wouldn't.
