Is there a different manual for the Belgian built model? I have a manual bought in the US.

Can an electric starter be fitted to this model? Are they available.
Somebody told me that he fitted electric start to this model but in Australia.
I am in the UK.
Thank you sorry if these are daft questions

Mal, the engines are the same, as near as I know the electric start kits are NLA and the starters are as rare as hens teeth, at lest here in the states but there are a few doner engines around so you may be able to pick one up. Some of the 20s had a factory installed flywheels with a ring gear and some did not so that will also enter in to the search.

starter part number come up in the arco book as a 5367 10 tooth gear if you have the 122 tooth flywheel and the starter mount you should be able to make it an electric start fairly easy. i looked for a used fly wheel and found 2 on ebay so they are around you just have to hunt for them

Mal, no nice way to do this so I will just say it. Most of the info on this forum is quite accurate and well meaning but on occasion wrong, you just received some, the starter and flywheel that you were told about are for the new 18-20&25 horsepower engines and will not work. Heres a link on your engine to the flywheel page for your engine item 1 the 3rd down I believe that is the flywheel and the right number to look for http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...&bdesc=FLYWHEEL,+IGNITION+COIL+AND+SWITCH+BOX
Next is the link for the starter number, when you take this number to the arcomarine site you will find you were given the wrong number and arco does not have the starter you need but at least you will have the right number for your search. Always check for the right number yourself before spending you money. It's item 16 http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...ng&inbr=481&bnbr=18&bdesc=ELECTRIC+COMPONENTS
