I just bought a 4 litre (1 gallon) jug of a generic brand oil for 19.99. It's tcw3 and NMMA certified. That is the cheapest option for me. Option #2 is Shell premium 2-cycle at 29.99/gallon and finally penzoil or amsoil at 39.99/gallon.
Add the ridiculous 12% tax we pay and it makes a lot of sense to me to use the generic dino oil and spend 15 bucks on a decard every 6 months!

You pay a 12% sales tax, but how much do you pay for your health insurance policy?? It's one or the other, but I bet your government is way better at giving you health care than our screwed up bunch of crooks will ever be, but apparently our socialist president doesn't think so.
That's it on the political portion for me.
As for the oil, it's amazing this question has come up yet again. If you feel better paying for a nicer label then go ahead, but the oil inside of that nice labeling isn't protecting your engine any better.
I don't drive around looking to fill up my gas tank from the nicest looking gas pumps either, the underground tanks are all filled with the same stuff, no matter how much Shell or BP spend for a TV ad telling people who don't know any better that their fuels are "Nitrogen Enriched" or that their fuel will clean your valves off.
Marketing is an entire industry built on BS, and they make a lot of money every year off people who buy into the BS. Why do you think some oils are red and in nice clear bottles so you can see that they are red, because they have done tons of studies to see which colors are more pleasing to people's eye and which colors trigger certain things to make people feel they ar ebetter quality. The labels are designed too based on things that catch your eye over other things.
Trust me I used to work in the industry and my wife still does. If I had a Wal Mart near me anywhere I'd buy their oil, which isn't their oil anyway and the same stuff is probably being sold in a nicer bottle with a nicer label at some other store for twice as much.
