Thanks but we've have gone off topic long time ago. It's irrelevant if the motor has been repainted or not. Repainted or not won't make the motor to run which it's the sole purpose of the post.

Have checked parts for a 2 stroke 2HP Evi motor : https://www.boats.net/catalog/evinrude/outboard-by-hp/2hp/2802r-1978 and all parts corresponds to the motor I'm trying to revive if mechanically possible. Nope this is not a stolen motor, original oldie owner passed away and just having fun with it...

No, its not off topic, its 100% ON topic.

You TALKED about parts and an owners manual. Knowing the exact year and model will give you that access. The paint reference was to show you HOW to get the info. Someone painted over the numbers. They are right in front of your face. If I had the motor in my hands I'd tell you in 2 minutes.

If it is indeed what you THINK it is, all the OEM parts are on the shelf at a well known marine dealer 2 blocks from my house.

OK, aside from the number seen on post 20 pic 1 there's another one stamped on the side plug :​

Can you check at your marine dealer if he stocks a Powerhead gasket set : 0383012 for an Evi 2HP 2802R 1978 motor : Tomorrow will hit the piston and the exposed lower connecting rod hard with a wooden peg and a heavy hammer, if budges a bit it's a nice start...

Pic 20 is a casting number for that particular part, not the whole motor. Pic 24 indeed shows the model and serial numbers. Unfortunately, I can only make out a few letters. (great picture by the way) It's soft metal and it looks like some of the letters were sanded away. Regardless, if you say its 2802R I believe you.

I see what you mean about prices. I googled the gasket and found one for $68.00. Highway robbery by the way. Most sites said NLA and out of stock.

By buddy shows it in stock, but he's only selling it for $6.95 US. I would guess overseas shipping would be double what it would be for domestic. His shop is closed now - with 2 feet of snow his mechanics are all on vacation for the winter. This time of year his business is all internet parts sales.

Have revived worse motors than this one which were one step behind being used as anchors and surprisingly still working as of today. During C19 confinements you have to entertain yourself with something you currently work with and what better having fun than with an old challenging motor...

Out of curiosity, if the motor is well restored and revived properly, why wouldn't it work for long?

The motor was heavily whacked right at middle piston and upper connecting rod with a thick wooden peg and a heavy duty hammer, guess what the peg broke and the seized parts didn't budged a hair. The crankshaft, connecting rod and internal crankcase are seen heavily oxidized which it's no bueno, no wonder the huge seizure.​

Due to frustration with 0 unblocking possibilities whatsoever, I'm about to bury a cross right in the middle of the flywheel, the last, last resource a very long soak in brake fluid, will see if owner is willing to go that route....

That motor is scrap material.. even if you got it free the rust pits in cylinder walls and damaged crank make it too expensive to dink with.

Plainly in agreement, missing or screwed up parts which some are NLA will make it impossible to repair even though have managed to freed all the seized internal parts. Just wanted to see how far that oldie could go while having funtime...
