20 hp Johnson - clutch dog replacment

I have a 20Hp Johnson – Model #FDL-20C / Serial #J2696570 (1966?). <br />The engine was slipping out of gear. I inspected the gearcase and it looks like the clutch dog needs replacing. It was turned around once since the reverse aspect was good, but now it needs replacement.<br /><br />Can you replace just the clutch dog or is it necessary to replace the entire gear set?<br /><br />Can you suggest a source for the necessary parts?<br /><br /><br />Thanks <br />bill

You can replace just the clutch. But I would take a real close look at the gear again. If it's worn, you'd be better off replacing the gearset also, just to keep from reworking it again.
