20 hp merc shaft conversion ?

I have a 2000 20hp tiller OB 15" shaft....... Need to make it a 20" shaft..........Any help ?

2 ways to do this ---Find a long shaft driveshaft.---Find a long exhaust housing.---Find a long water tube.---Find a long shift rod.-----Then take lower unit apart to install driveshaft.-----Take powerhead off to install long exhaust housing.-----------------OR See if ----Bay manufacturing has an extension kit for you.----Much easier to install.

I would want the whole motor for that kind of coin.---Donor motor with a blown powerhead is a good way to do this.----It will take time and patience to find one.-A lot depends on your local as well.

The easiest way to switch to a long shaft motor is to just buy one and sell the short shaft. Good long shaft motors can be found and it could be the cheaper way to go in the long run. Or as racer states find a long shaft motor with a bad power head and buy it complet and change the power heads around. Ether way it will cost $$$ ,but the work involved will be less in the long run. JMO

This short shaft I have probably has only around a hundred hours on it. Not sure I could find a used long shaft in the same condition.... I'll look around.... What's the short shaft worth if I try to sell it ?
