200 EFI (1999)

I recently had trouble with one of my engines. Its starts great and after a couple of hours of normal running it dies. The fuel hose and manual pump are in good order. There is no water in the gas. It will start up the next day and have the same problem after a couple of hours. Can this be a spark plug related or stator issue? The fuel pumps appear to be working proeprly or it would not run for 2 hours.

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />When it fails, what does it do? I assume it's not locking up, but does it begin misfiring and die, or die like you shut off the key? If you try to restart it, what does it do? How long before you can get it going again? When was the last time you checked your gearlube? I assume we're talking twins. Are both motors drawing from the same tank fitting? 2.5 or 3L?

When it fails it can be started back to idle for a time. If I give it gas it will go but only for about 2 minutes and then it dies to an idle or off completely. It can be started up but only at an idle speed. It can get going the next day. (I am assuming the next day becaus at the mechnics shop they could not find anything wrong with it).<br /><br />I went out again and it did it again. the shop can't recreate tghe same conditions so they are sending out a mechanic for me to ride him out. <br /><br />Both motors draw from the same tank. Gearlube? <br />They are 3.0 200 EFI mercs.

when was the last VST cleaning? when was the last low pressure pump overhaul?<br /> both are regular maint items for your motors.<br /> do it do it regular or pay the price.<br /> good luck and keep posting
