200 EFI fuel problem

I have a 1993 200 efi that will not accelerate beyond idle. I have checked the fuel system and found that the fuel pressure is 90 PSI ( should be 30-39 PSI)at the test port above the high pressure fuel pump. I know the fuel pressure regulator can cause this but it seems to be clear of debris( not stopped up). Can high pressure fuel cause this type of problem? I have checked the ignition system and the throttle position switch and it is good.

Re: 200 EFI fuel problem

I would say you need to fix what you find wrong and then move on from there. I would ask are you making oil??? running that high fuel pressure it would lead me to looking for that, due to blow by having fuel rail running at twice the spec pressure. will cause the injectors to fail Or not close.
Fuel regulator would be where I would start replace it. Re check the fuel pressure. and then move on unit your motor is running well.

Re: 200 EFI fuel problem

I removed the fuel pressure regulator and took the elbow off and everything looked clean on that side; however, the side that mounts to the vapor seperator tank had a piece of fuel line stuck in it. It took a lot of probing but finally got it out and pressure went to 37 PSI. Engine excelerates great now. I almost replaced some of the ignition parts (trigger mainly) even though everything checked good. I think purging your fuel lines before connecting them is a good idea.
